Job summary

The City of Tucson’s Department of Transportation & Mobility seeks a Survey Crew Chief to lead field surveys, manage a team, and ensure accurate data collection for construction and development projects. You will supervise daily field operations under the Land Surveyor’s guidance.

The role requires two years of relevant experience, a valid Arizona Class D license, and strong teamwork and problem-solving skills. Training and advancement opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant experience.
• 6 months post high school education (or equivalent).
• Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver license (Arizona Class D).
• Demonstrated ability to lead survey crews and coordinate field operations.

Responsibilities

• Guides survey crew staff and assigns tasks to ensure field efficiency.
• Provides mentoring and trainings on equipment and best practices.
• Addresses challenges in the field, including equipment issues.
• Coordinates survey activities, scheduling, resources and logistics to meet deadlines.
• Operates surveying instruments to measure distances, angles, elevations, and coordinates.
• Collects field data and documents topographical features and as-built notes.
• Interprets maps and prepares reports and documentation summarizing findings.
