Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Lead Surveyor to plan and execute survey strategy for the Cold Creek Solar & Storage Project near San Angelo, Texas. You will supervise survey activities, verify materials, and process data to support a large renewable energy development.

You will manage subcontractors, coordinate with Field Engineering and Superintendents, maintain survey control networks, and ensure adherence to Bechtel's safety and quality programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) required; 8–14 years of relevant experience depending on seniority.
• Extensive knowledge of GPS/GNSS, robotic total station, and terrestrial laser scanning.
• Strong safety mindset; familiarity with Bechtel's Zero Incidents program.
• Proven ability to lead survey teams and coordinate field/subcontract activities.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the survey team's implementation of the project's safety, quality, and environmental programs.
• Oversees and maintains the project's survey control network for civil, structural, and electrical scopes.
• Provides oversight of survey works by direct hire surveyors; coordinates all Survey activities.
• Manages sub-contracted survey crews, including verification of control points, staking accuracy, and as-built deliverables.
• Provides expertise and technical support related to survey to Field Engineering and Superintendents in various configurations.
• Develops and maintains the survey and metrology strategy and procedure document.
• Directs metrology field measurements utilizing Laser Tracker and Spatial Analyzer software.
• Provides survey support to senior management with progress metrics and schedule-critical layout data.
• Initiates requisitions for field purchases of survey equipment.
• Ensures zero-accident philosophy and safe operation by craft and others in the area.
