Job summary

Potomac Valley Surveys, based in Poolesville, Maryland, is seeking a Full-Time Survey Crew Chief to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead a survey crew in the field and oversee a range of surveying activities including boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, construction stakeout, and as-built surveys.

You will operate GPS, total stations, levels, and drones, and ensure data quality through meticulous calculations and checks. A strong emphasis on safety and crew development is required.

Qualifications

• 5 years land surveying experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Familiarity with Maryland surveying standards and regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a survey crew in the field, ensuring high-quality work.
• Oversee and perform boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, construction stakeout, and as-built surveys.
• Operate and manage survey equipment (GPS, total stations, levels, drones).
• Collect, process, and verify field data, performing necessary calculations.
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure compliance with specs and regulations.
• Lead daily safety meetings and enforce safe work practices.
• Maintain and calibrate survey equipment and vehicles.
