Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Field Service Technician in our Specialized Field Service department in Westborough, MA. You will test, maintain, and repair low and medium voltage equipment, lead shop and field operations, and ensure reliability of critical electrical systems.

You will perform testing (Megger, Hi-Pot, timing tests), read schematics, troubleshoot controls, document using PowerDB, and mentor field staff. The role blends hands-on field work with coordination and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years’ related experience in power plants, industrial services, primary power distribution.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems experience.
• NETA 2/3/4 preferred.
• Education: High School Diploma.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading/writing) due to safety materials.
• Perform regular field work indoors and outdoors.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerDB, Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Prefer EPC associate degree or ABET EE degree or military equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing and commissioning of MV/LV equipment in field and shop settings.
• Perform mechanical repairs, tear downs, refurbishment, and parts replacement.
• Read meters, schematics, wiring drawings, and one-line diagrams.
• Troubleshoot circuit controls and time-current curves.
• Test power/current transformers and assess Power Factor/TTR.
• Document activities accurately using PowerDB software.
• Operate electrical testing tools and maintain safety standards.
• Collaborate with clients and team; supervise junior technicians.

As a Lead Field Service Technician, where you will be responsible for testing, maintaining, and repairing a wide array of electrical equipment, including low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor controls, and more. Responsibilities

• Performing testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing tests.
• Completing mechanical work and repairs on breakers, including tear down, refurbishment and parts replacement.
• Utilizing and accurately reading meters.
• Reading schematics and wiring drawings.
• Troubleshooting circuit controls.
• Reading and plotting time-current curves.
• Reading and understanding of electrical one-line drawings and symbols.
• Testing power and current transformers, including Power Factor and TTR.
• Accurately and consistently documenting using Power DB.
• Able to work with electrical testing equipment and tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5-7 years' related experience in power plants, industrial services, primary power distribution and related protection and control schemes.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems experience.
• Licensures and Certifications: NETA 2, 3, or 4 preferred.
• Education: High School Diploma.
• Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (inclusive of reading and writing) due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and interactions with clients.
• Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors.
• Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, business acumen, job management ability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerDB, Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Valid Driver's license and good driving record.
• Prefer an Associate's degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
