Job summary

Herc Rentals, a leading equipment rental provider, seeks a Field Service Mechanic A to lead fleet maintenance and repairs at customer job sites. You will diagnose electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems, perform preventative maintenance, and mentor junior field mechanics.

Strong communication and safety adherence are essential in this role. You will operate from a service truck, manage parts and reports, and ensure equipment is ready for rental.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with clean record and ability to operate a service truck.
• Owns hand and air/electric tools for repairs.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple vehicle types and equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Mastery of Field Service Mechanic B/C tasks.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and fleet management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead fleet maintenance at active job sites.
• Onsite diagnostics and testing before/after repairs.
• Perform routine maintenance on fleet equipment and trucks.
• Carry out oil changes, lubrication, tire/hose/battery work.
• Replace heavy components and diagnose wear onsite.
• Keep service truck/inventory clean and stocked.
• Generate detailed service reports and logs.
• Follow procedures and safety requirements; perform other duties.
