Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Supervisor, Operations Skills Training – Enterprise Learning to lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of technical training for our frontline workforce. You will supervise instructors across multiple craft disciplines, ensuring safety, compliance, and high performance in all training activities.

Responsibilities include managing the apprenticeship program, developing staff, coordinating resources, and collaborating with Operations, HR, and safety teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with six years of related experience or an Associate degree with eight years of related experience, including training and supervisory experience.
• High School Diploma or GED with ten years of related experience, including supervisory/training experience in utility operations.
• Demonstrated leadership with accountability, talent development, and change management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to inform senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Ability to coordinate training resources, equipment, and facilities for safe, effective instruction.
• Experience evaluating new training technologies and methods for learner engagement and performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for the apprenticeship program, aligning with Enterprise Learning standards and safety practices.
• Lead, coach, and develop direct reports through performance evaluations and development planning.
• Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts for instructors and staff.
• Set priorities, manage workloads, and adjust schedules to meet operational needs.
• Ensure instructor qualifications, certifications, and competencies are maintained and documented.
• Communicate policies, safety expectations, and governance requirements across training activities.
• Drive continuous improvement to training rigor and trainee readiness across the company.
• Coordinate analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training materials and programs.
• Manage budget considerations for training delivery, travel, materials, and center activities.
• Maintain accurate attendance, completion, and reporting in approved systems.
• Identify future training opportunities and enterprise-wide workforce development needs.
• Support leadership with reporting and stakeholder updates on program performance.
