Job summary

City of Shreveport is seeking a senior Field Operations professional to oversee crews, operate heavy equipment, and ensure reliable maintenance of water and sewer assets. The role emphasizes safety, training, and coordination across multiple sites.

The position requires proficiency with CMMS, water distribution and wastewater guidelines, and the ability to manage workloads while maintaining service standards. On-call duties and extensive field supervision are inherent to the role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid State Driver's License with class applicable to position.
• Associate's degree or two-year vocational degree in mechanical, electrical, or welding and two years of operations/maintenance experience, or four+ years as Maintenance Specialist II.
• Field Operations requires proficiency with heavy equipment (e.g., backhoes, front-end loaders) and ability to obtain Class 3 Water Distribution and Wastewater Certificates within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and plan workloads for field crews and site assignments.
• Maintain and service heavy equipment; supervise and coordinate tool and vehicle inventories.
• Oversee installation of valves, hydrants, air relief valves, fittings and other appurtenances; investigate system problems and implement corrective actions.
• Initiate work orders; document safety, training and maintenance actions; use CMMS to track work.
• On-call 24/7; interact with customers and ensure compliance with safety rules and city policies.
• Assist supervisor and assume zone duties in supervisor's absence.
