Job summary

MINNESOTA DOT is seeking a qualified Inspector to assist the Chief Inspector on complex projects. The role involves field testing and inspection of roadway materials, verifying conformance to MnDOT specifications, and directing inspections on grading/base and paving operations.

You will identify and report deficiencies to maintain project integrity. Applicants must hold a valid Class D license with progression to a CDL Class B within 6 months, plus two years of related contract administration or

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class D license and obtain a Class B CDL with no Air Brake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.
• Two years of experience performing contract administration activities; or a combination substituting related areas.
• Educational substitution allowed with Civil/Construction Technology degree or Engineering/Geomatics degree.
• Certifications listed for material testing and inspection are required.

Responsibilities

• Serves as Chief Inspector on less complex construction projects to ensure successful completion.
• Performs and/or directs field testing of materials and analyzes results for MnDOT specs.
• Inspects roadway features for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Completes complex inspection activities for grading/base, bridges, paving to ensure project success.
• Reports deficiencies to Chief Inspector and verifies corrections.
