Job summary

Aecon is seeking an experienced general foreman to lead and coordinate crews on complex construction, installation, and repair work. You will interpret blueprints, plan sequences, ensure resources, and maintain clear communication with clients and project leadership.

You’ll act as a safety leader, oversee field execution, conduct JSAs and toolbox talks, and ensure work meets quality, schedule, and compliance requirements while coaching teams for peak performance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise crews performing construction, installation, and repair tasks.
• Review and interpret blueprints to determine work methods, sequencing, and implementation logistics.
• Define the scope of work and expected progression of tasks to crews.
• Plan and determine the sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing activities.
• Ensure required materials, tools, equipment, and supplies are available to craftsmen.
• Directly oversee field activities to ensure safety compliance.
• Identify, communicate, and mitigate hazards; act as liaison between disciplines.
• Assign workers to tasks such as material cutting, form building, erection, and hydro-testing.
• Inspect completed work for conformance with specs and drawings.
• Coordinate with QA/QC supervision to support inspections.
• Communicate progress, issues, and schedule status with client representatives.
• Lead toolbox talks and conduct Job Safety Analyses.
• Perform hands-on installation when required.
• Supervise support crafts as needed.
