Job summary

HDR is seeking a Resident Engineer to lead the development and construction of highway projects, ensuring the design intent is realized with precision, safety, and quality.

You will prepare budgets and schedules, manage contracts, oversee field engineering, coordinate with subcontractors and crafts, and monitor progress to meet client expectations. Part of HDR's employee-owned culture, you will contribute to a collaborative team dedicated to quality infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
• 10 years related experience in construction including estimating, bidding, purchasing orders and subcontracts, scheduling, and field engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by licensing board.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Bluebeam, estimating & scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration software.
• Experience developing and managing construction engineering and inspection programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Active participant in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise and management oversight for development and construction of quality highway projects.
• Prepare project budgets and schedules.
• Manage personnel matters, workload, consultant contracts and establish optimum engineering practices.
• Plan, prepare and analyze documents, and manage construction contracts.
• Forecast and track fiscal budget and cash flow for workforce, facilities, vehicles and equipment.
• Assist various crafts, disciplines and subcontractors in executing their work.
• Coordinate and manage project quality assurance and control, and inspection services.
• Coordinate and manage survey and layout work in the field.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
