Job summary

Anderson Kill seeks an accomplished career trial attorney to lead complex federal litigation for terrorism victims and their families. Candidates should have substantial federal litigation and trial experience and the ability to manage multi-party cases, extensive discovery, and important client relationships.

This attorney will serve as a primary contact for a large client base, requiring exceptional judgment, discretion, compassion, and interpersonal skill in managing difficult client

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active admission to practice law in New York, in good standing.
• Experience with the U.S. Attorney's Office or comparable federal prosecutorial capacity.
• Federal prosecution experience through indictment, plea, or trial.
• First- or second-chair trial experience, including jury trials.
• Experience managing large, complex litigation matters.
• Experience managing a high volume of clients within complex litigation.
• Strong written and oral advocacy and analytical skills.
• Excellent organization and ability to meet deadlines across matters.
• Sound judgment, high ethical standards, and discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and with a case team.

Responsibilities

• Manage and litigate a substantial and complex caseload through resolution, trial, and appeal.
• Lead or co-lead counsel in trials, hearings, and dispositive motion practice.
• Oversee case strategy, discovery planning, and pretrial preparation for large matters.
• Manage relationships with a high volume of clients with professionalism and judgment.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support strategy.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
• Coordinate with co-counsel, opposing counsel, investigators, expert witnesses, and others.
• Communicate status, risk, and strategy with clients and supervisors.
• Ensure compliance with court rules, ethics, and internal protocols.
• Maintain accurate, organized case files and records.
• Represent the office in court, negotiations, and public settings.
