Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Facilities Technologist to join the FMOC team as a construction observer/inspector. You will ensure field activities meet IBC and Sandia standards, coordinate with contractors and internal teams, and document field results.

Responsibilities include field visits, reporting, and ensuring safety and quality; the role requires on-site work 100% of the time and potential for overtime or on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 3 years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications, including applicable codes and standards.
• ICC Commercial Building Inspector certification (or plan to obtain within 6 months).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the ACS construction observer/inspector under the SDR; ensure work complies with IBC and Sandia standards.
• Conduct field visits, observe construction, and prepare inspection reports documenting progress, quality, and safety.
• Coordinate field tests, RFIs, Change Orders, redlines, and permit activities with contractors and internal teams.
• On-call as needed and able to work a 100% onsite schedule.
