Job summary

Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and electrical equipment and is hiring a Lead Person Fab for our Southeast Houston facility on a four-tens schedule. You will direct hourly staff in the 1st Shift Steel Fab Department and oversee daily workflow, training, and safety activities to meet delivery dates.

You will collaborate with engineers and suppliers to resolve quality issues, coordinate inventory, and forecast materials as needed, while adapting to customer requirements and maintaining a

Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience (i.e. lead person, crew leader, etc.)
• Multi-tasking, organizational skills and communication are essential for this role.
• Experience with PCs and Windows software; database experience preferred.
• Able to read technical documents such as technical manuals and mechanical engineered drawings.
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality system.

Responsibilities

• Give direction to all hourly employees in the department.
• Organize job duties and oversee training for new hires; ensure cross training.
• Mentor/supervise Safety Squad and Safety Program activities.
• Organize and prioritize daily workflow to meet customer delivery dates.
• Create work orders and write HFDs.
• Multitask across multiple areas within the department.
• Adapt to changes based on customer requirements/needs.
• Troubleshoot machine problems and recommend solutions.
• Work with engineers, supervisors, and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
• Coordinate inventory cycle counts.
• Forecast raw and external vendor materials as needed.
