Job summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced Exterior Lighting Engineer in Dearborn, MI for a contract role. You will lead exterior lighting development from concept through production launch, coordinating with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to meet performance, cost, and regulatory targets.

The role requires hands‑on CAD, DFMEA/DVP&R experience, and strong ownership, with responsibilities spanning design, validation, and production support. Hybrid work is anticipated in the Dearborn area.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical, electrical, or related field.
• 3+ years of automotive exterior lighting engineering experience.
• CAD design capability for preliminary design work and packaging.
• Experience leading exterior lighting development across milestones.
• Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Systems Engineering for Exterior Lighting.
• Generate and execute technical solutions for Exterior Lighting components.
• Perform complex engineering evaluation analysis.
• Translate requirements into robust exterior lighting designs.
• Develop preliminary CAD proposals and context assessments.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to implement cost savings and improvements.
• Lead supplier technical execution, including design reviews and launch support.
• Drive production release and validation readiness.
