Job summary

Actalent seeks a Design Engineer to lead exterior vehicle lighting design, owning front-end or rear-end lamp systems and coordinating cross-functional teams from concept to launch. You will manage geometry, tolerances, and data, ensuring manufacturability and cost targets while meeting customer and regulatory standards.

The role requires collaboration with OEM studios, CAE, validation, and manufacturing, focusing on robust design and timely execution. Based in Troy, MI onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in design, engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of design or engineering experience in plastics industry.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or CATIA, including designing from scratch.
• Experience with plastic injection molding and plastic component design.
• Ability to perform 3D layout, packaging, and feasibility studies.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, GD&T, and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own one exterior lamp program from assignment through validation and launch.
• Lead cross-functional teams across design, optics, electronics, tooling, CAE, validation, quality, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers.
• Ensure designs meet cost targets and manufacturability.
• Create and maintain 3D models and GD&T drawings.
• Coordinate with OEM styling studios and product development teams.
