Job summary

Roto-Rooter is seeking a Lead Excavation Operator to join our team in Allentown, PA. You will oversee excavation projects, operate heavy machinery, and manage an excavation crew to ensure safety and high workmanship standards.

The role requires 3–5 years of heavy equipment experience, knowledge of OSHA safety rules, and the ability to read blueprints. We offer a full benefits package, competitive wages, paid time off, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years operating heavy machinery in an excavation or construction setting.
• Thorough understanding of excavation safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and utility location procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
• Strong problem-solving skills and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery, including backhoes, excavators, and trenchers, to perform residential and commercial excavation services.
• Lead and supervise excavation crew members, providing guidance, training, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Coordinate daily job site activities, including setting up and maintaining work areas, traffic control, and utility location.
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and utility layouts to plan and execute excavations accurately.
• Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure the timely completion of projects.
• Conduct inspections to assess job progress, address issues, and ensure quality work.
• Maintain equipment, reporting any issues or maintenance needs.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating with customers on job progress and managing any concerns.
• Competitive hourly wage between $30 - $40 per hour, additional compensation per dig, as well as overtime opportunities.
