Job summary

Ford Motor Company in the United States seeks a Lead Dyno Engineer to own the readiness, calibration, and data integrity of our dynamometer lab supporting EV development and certification testing.

You will lead EV energy consumption, range, and road load testing per SAE J1634, J2263/J2264, and EPA/WLTP requirements, while driving lab operations, QA, and data analysis to ensure audit-ready documentation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in automotive test engineering with dynamometer lab experience on electrified vehicle programs.
• 3+ years in a lead/senior engineering role for compliance, quality, or lab management.
• Working knowledge of SAE J1634, J2263, J2264, EPA EV certification requirements, and EU WLTP BEV test procedures.
• Experience with EV thermal/range development testing across various conditions.
• Experience supporting ISO17025 accreditation, including measurement uncertainty and audits.
• Strong data analysis skills with MATLAB or Python for processing dyno/CAN/energy data.
• Experience with high-voltage energy measurement systems and calibration traceability.
• Experience managing lab information/test management systems.
• Strong technical writing skills for SOPs and audit documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own dyno readiness for chassis and hub-coupled systems: calibration schedules, preventative maintenance, and equipment qualification.
• Lead EV energy consumption, range, and road load testing per SAE J1634, J2263/J2264, and EPA/WLTP requirements.
• Lead EU WLTP testing for BEVs, including road load setting and range/consumption protocols.
• Author and version-control SOPs, QA documentation, and calibration logs for audits.
• Develop and optimize lab operations, instrumentation, safety protocols, and data visualization.
• Run thermal and range development programs across drive cycles and climates.
• Support ISO17025 accreditation activities including method validation and audits.
• Coordinate test scheduling with battery/thermal/SW engineering and program teams.
