Job summary

Primoris T&D is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead detailed cost estimates for transmission, distribution, and substation projects in the United States. You will analyze scope, drawings, and RFPs to determine labor, material, equipment costs, and subcontractor quotes, while coordinating with engineers and project teams.

The role requires strong knowledge of construction means and methods, proficiency with InEIGHT Estimate and other tools, and excellent communication to manage risks,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in power delivery or related EPC construction.
• Proficient with estimating software and MS Office tools used for planning and communication.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods for electrical substations.
• Experience with InEIGHT Estimate (HardDollar) is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates using InEIGHT Estimate (HardDollar) software.
• Analyze project scope, drawings, specs, and RFPs to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Engage subcontractors early, issue RFPs, and evaluate proposals using Best Value templates.
• Collaborate with scheduling and operations to define milestones, critical path, construction durations, and float.
• Maintain rigorous document control across pursuit folders, estimate files, quotes, and reviews.
• Conduct constructability reviews to evaluate feasibility and execution strategies.
• Perform risk analysis and maintain a risk registry with consequences, probabilities, and contingency planning.

Job Overview

Primoris T&D provides construction, maintenance, and engineering of electric Transmission, Distribution, and Substation infrastructure. Ancillary services include wireless telecommunication installation, environmental cleanup, project management, and storm restoration services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of detailed cost estimates using InEIGHT Estimate (HardDollar) software.
• Analyze and understand project scope, drawings, specifications, and RFP documentation to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Engage subcontractors early in the pursuit process, issue RFPs, and evaluate proposals using Best Value templates.
• Collaborate with scheduling leads and operations to define milestone dates, critical path, construction durations, and float, contributing to a functional schedule.
• Maintain rigorous document control practices across pursuit folders, including estimate files, subcontractor quotes, and review documentation.
• Conduct and actively participate in constructability reviews to evaluate project feasibility and execution strategies.
• Engage in quality assurance reviews to validate the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of estimates.
• Perform comprehensive risk analysis by identifying known and potential project risks, and maintain a detailed risk registry to document consequences, probabilities, mitigation strategies, and budget impacts, including targeted contingency planning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in power delivery or related construction sectors with concentration in EPC.
• Proficiency in estimating software, Bluebeam, Excel, Microsoft Project, and Power Point.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods for air-insulated substations.
• Demonstrable experience with InEIGHT Estimate (HardDollar) is a huge plus.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to establish, develop, and maintain subcontractor relationships.
