Job summary

Hooper, an electric power and mechanical contractor with a regional presence in Colorado, seeks an Estimating Manager to oversee bid takes and material/labor pricing for T&D power and substations. The role requires strong analytical, leadership, and CAD/BIM proficiency to guide the estimating team.

You will manage bid schedules, maintain estimating systems, and mentor junior estimators while coordinating with the department head to deliver accurate estimates for commercial and residential

Qualifications

• Two years technical education in engineering or construction management.
• At least 5 years estimating experience in construction projects.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook; CAD/BIM drawings knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develops bid schedules with department head and sources plans for estimates.
• Performs detailed plan take-offs and pricing for materials, equipment, and subs.
• Updates material pricing and labor rates regularly to reflect changes.
• Maintains the estimating system and software.
• Prices change orders on large projects.
• Evaluates bid results and maintains bid databases for future use.
• Assists in evaluating completed costs against budgets to improve estimates.
• Leads, trains, and mentors other estimators to ensure high performance.
• Develops rules of thumb for budgeting and estimating.
• Attends departmental meetings and related functions.
