Job summary

Haydon Companies in Tempe, AZ seeks an experienced Estimator to lead cost projections on negotiated commercial projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to deliver complete and accurate estimates.

You will manage the bid cycle from pre-bid through award, perform value engineering, analyze historical data, and coordinate with trades to avoid gaps, ensuring timely, well-supported estimates across all scopes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent required.
• 5–10 years estimating, cost control, or engineering experience in a similar area.
• Ability to read and navigate drawings and specifications; strong communication skills.
• Experience with bids, subcontractor proposals, and bid/tally processes.
• Understanding of lifecycle costing, risk assessment, and value engineering.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all discipline estimates for assigned bids.
• Own the project from initial estimate through subcontracts.
• Ask the right questions to deliver a complete project cost evaluation.
• Collaborate with customers and trade partners to inform and empower them.
• Provide innovative cost solutions for lead times and materials.
• Predict costs across all scopes of work with reliability.
• Review proposals, drawings, and specifications to define scope.
• Maintain working documents backing estimate figures.
• Lead preconstruction efforts and coordinate with project team.
• Organize the estimating team to meet deadlines.
• Perform value engineering and life cycle costing.
• Assist in awarding subcontracts and finalize subcontract content.
• Manage large CM/GC and complex bid projects.
