Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Lead Estimator to join our Pittsburgh, PA team, delivering cost estimates for heavy industrial construction projects. The role focuses on directing estimation efforts, coordinating MTO with engineering, and producing robust cost baselines aligned with project lifecycle procedures.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in estimating within EPCM environments, strong leadership, electrical estimating exposure, and solid experience with estimating software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in estimating on medium/large multi-discipline projects in EPCM environments.
• Demonstrated experience in leading estimates including supervision of a team of estimators.
• Preferred experience in electrical estimating discipline.
• Heavy industrial experience required.
• Strong MS Office skills and experience with estimating tools and systems.
• Site experience would be an asset.
• Knowledge of EPC/LSTK estimating techniques.
• Commercial / contractual knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Understanding estimating scope of work, deliverables, schedule of execution, estimate structure, formats, reports, etc.
• Develop the estimate plan and initiate estimate kickoff meeting.
• Coordinate MTO deliverables with engineering.
• Delivery of an accurate and comprehensive estimate in accordance with estimating procedures, standards, and practices and estimate classifications.
• Bottom-up calculation of direct and indirect field costs, factorization or other methods as appropriate to the estimate classification.
• Establishment of project escalation and contingency requirements.
• Calculation of cash expenditure, predicted escalation over project duration.
• Attendance of estimate review meetings.
• Issue of the Basis of Estimate and prepare client estimate presentations.
• Monitoring and upgrading of the estimating database.
• Preparation and input to Gate Release Meetings.

Hatch is seeking an Lead Estimator to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. The ideal candidate is expected to have prior experience working on heavy industrial construction projects. Conformance to the Project Lifecycle Process, Global and Regional Estimating Guidelines and sound first principle estimating techniques.
