Job summary

Compost Crew, Inc., A Benefit Corporation in Rockville, MD is seeking a Lead Environmental Technician to guide organics recycling operations and ensure high-quality compost production. The role runs 7 am–4 pm, Monday through Friday, with competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits.

You will supervise and assist composting activities, apply safety practices, and help maintain regulatory compliance while developing technical and environmental expertise in a fast-growing organics company.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience in related field such as composting, agriculture or commercial production.
  • U.S. issued driver’s license in good standing.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds up to 200 times per day.
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical card & pass drug/alcohol test.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Team leadership and ability to provide work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the composting process and adjust controls to maintain optimal aerobic conditions.
  • Operate and perform basic preventative maintenance on composting machinery.
  • Maintain site conditions and records per state requirements.
  • Perform daily decontamination of food scrap feedstocks.
  • Serve as safety role model and follow procedures.
  • Communicate site conditions with supervisors.
  • Lead or assist composting operations at Compost Outposts in Rockville.

We’re hiring a Lead Organics Recycling Associate/Organics Recycling Associate to lead or assist composting operations at our innovative Compost Outposts located in Rockville, Maryland. As Lead Organics Recycling Associate/Organics Recycling Associate, you’ll work closely with our team to turn food scraps from our customer base into top-quality, nutrient-rich compost. You’ll have the chance to develop your technical, mechanical and environmental expertise. This is a full-time position with hours from 7 am - 4 pm, Mon. - Fri. Starting pay $20 - $25/hr.

Key Responsibilities
