Job summary

The World Bank Group in Washington, DC seeks an Adviser (Lead Environmental Specialist) to strengthen the GEF Secretariat’s capacity to design and implement blended finance initiatives that mobilize private capital for global environmental benefits. You will report to the CEO, supervise a dedicated unit, and align efforts with GEF-9 priorities.

Ideal candidates bring 12+ years in nature-related finance, strong experience with private sector mobilization, and a track record with MDBs or similar

Qualifications

• Twelve+ years of relevant professional experience in nature, environmental, climate, or development finance.
• Experience working with private sector clients, investors, or capital markets on mobilization or blended finance.
• Experience with multilateral development banks and governance coordination.

Responsibilities

• Advise CEO on environment, climate finance, and private capital mobilization strategies.
• Lead the Blended Finance and Private Sector Coordination Unit and refine proposals.
• Analyze structures, risk allocation, mobilization, and expected environmental outcomes.
• Engage with institutions and investors to advance scalable blended finance solutions.
