The candidate will work closely with plant leadership, regulatory agencies, and operations teams to drive sustainability and continuous improvement in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of environmental compliance experience within manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Experience with Title V air permitting, Clean Air Act compliance, NPDES, SPCC, and RCRA programs.
• Strong permitting, reporting, and regulatory agency interaction background.
• Experience with EPA, ADEM, or similar agencies.

Responsibilities

An industry-leading Industrial manufacturer is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support environmental compliance and sustainability efforts at its flagship manufacturing facility in the Florence, AL area. This position will play a key role in managing air, water, wastewater, and waste programs at the facility.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on environmental professional with strong regulatory knowledge and the ability to partner effectively with plant leadership, regulatory agencies, and operational teams.

The Role:

• Manage environmental compliance programs including Title V, NPDES, SPCC, and RCRA
• Prepare environmental reports, permit applications, and emissions inventories
• Serve as the primary liaison with EPA, ADEM, and other regulatory agencies
• Support air quality, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste management programs
• Lead environmental audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives
• Supervise a team of wastewater operators and support environmental improvement projects
• Partner with operations teams to ensure environmental compliance while supporting production goals

The Candidate:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of environmental compliance experience within manufacturing or heavy industry
• Experience in metals, chemical, power generation, pulp & paper, or other highly regulated industries preferred
• Experience with Title V air permitting, Clean Air Act compliance, NPDES, SPCC, and RCRA programs
• Strong background in environmental permitting, reporting, and regulatory agency interaction
• Experience working with EPA, ADEM, or similar environmental regulatory agencies
• Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple environmental programs in a complex manufacturing environment
