Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Studio IT is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to lead design, operation, and evolution of production infrastructure and data center platforms in Los Angeles. You will guide the Systems Administration team, oversee Linux/Windows platforms, enterprise hardware, storage, and high-availability systems.

You will define monitoring and observability strategies, mentor junior staff, and ensure security standards are met.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Strong Linux and Windows administration in enterprise/production environments.
Experience with enterprise storage and Ceph is strongly preferred.
Experience designing/administering Windows and Linux server platforms in enterprise environments.
Understanding storage, compute, and virtualization interactions in performance-critical environments.
Scripting/automation skills (Python/PowerShell).
Active Directory/DNS/DHCP management; Infoblox a plus.
Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Grafana or equivalents).
Ability to lead and mentor Systems Administrators.
5+ years in senior/lead infra roles.
On-call shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

Lead design, deployment, and support of Linux and Windows platforms in a production environment.
Architect and support enterprise server hardware including RAID, firmware, and diagnostics.
Lead design and operation of storage platforms (Ceph, NFS-based NAS, SAN).
Design and maintain high-availability and load-balanced systems (clustered servers).
Define monitoring, alerting, and observability strategies for infra components.
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on hardware selection and lifecycle.
Establish technical standards, patterns, and team documentation.
Review designs and implementations for quality and reliability.
Act as technical lead during infra incidents and post-incident reviews.
Ensure infrastructure aligns with security standards.
