WCL Group is seeking a Lead Engineering Technician for Virtual Design & Data Solutions in Overland Park, KS. You will advance electrical design deliverables using Bentley MicroStation and related tools while overseeing project budgets and schedules.

The role requires extensive experience in engineering design, CAD/BIM workflows, and leadership of engineering technicians to ensure quality and timely project outcomes. Nuclear facilities design experience with AGI32 is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of related work experience.
• Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology required.
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

Under minimal supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying electrical design drawings using advanced techniques in industry standard design tools, such as Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools.Advanced knowledge of project budgets and schedules is required. Smart Plant Electrical knowledge is a plus.For lighting design, experience with AGI32 is preferred to support accurate modeling and illumination calculations across Nuclear facilities.Job Summary• Functions in a lead technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisory role• Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline and contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions• Utilizes digital design tools and software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) following standardized procedures to create, modifies, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables• Responsible for technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance, while effectively coordinating efforts across departments, teams, and stakeholders• May supervise engineering technicians and support staff by coordinating, overseeing, and guiding conceptual and detailed design activities to ensure quality, efficiency, and alignment with project objectivesKey Responsibilities• Establishes, communicates, and enforces design and graphic standards• Reviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content• Reviews design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance• Ensures that design deliverables are prepared, coordinated among disciplines and issued in accordance with BV Quality Assurance Procedures and project specific procedures• Applies sound engineering fundamentals and established design practices in developing deliverables• Exercises judgment, makes work-related decisions, and guides other professionals• Monitors production to assure consistency , budget and schedule of deliverables• Establishes drawing control methods and maintains historical records• Leads or supports development of new or updated design applications and processes• Coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development• Communicates project design requirements, progress, and schedules• Responsible for determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.
