Position Brand Description:

Plant Engineering in Indianapolis Parenteral Manufacturing is responsible for maintaining the site’s facility infrastructure including buildings, HVAC, UAF Hoods, GMP utilities, steam, water, sewer, and other utility systems to a state of compliance. It must assure that facilities and related infrastructure are fit for use when needed, maintenance and reliability techniques are efficient and effective, and appropriate corrective and improvement actions are taken when necessary. Plant Engineering is also responsible for the efficient and effective management of local capital for their assets and oversight of engineering/maintenance contract resources.

The Sr. Specialist - Plant Engineering Coordinator is responsible for providing engineering and maintenance coordination support throughout Indianapolis Parenteral Manufacturing. This role owns the Fit & Finish program and ensures our facilities are in optimal and compliance conditions. They will work closely with Plant Engineering while also working closely with personnel from Engineering/Maintenance, Operations, Quality, TS/MS, GFD and other organizations to ensure projects are coordinated and planned to meet safety and business needs. This position works closely with contract workforces including the Central Indiana Alliance.

Key Objectives / Deliverables:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, leading safety initiatives, and working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
  • Fit & Finish Program: Continuously monitor our facilities condition and perform the necessary arrangement to clean, paint, floor repair, etc. our facilities envelop. Ensure our penthouses, basements, stairs, and other mechanical rooms are clean and organized.
  • Provide engineering support for IPM Facilities.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of personnel on projects as well as maintenance and repair activities. During Shutdown periods, this role will be coordinating and executing (through contractors) a significant amount of facilities improvement and repairs.
  • Ensure safety for all personnel (including contract employees) involved with projects in areas of responsibility including (but not limited to) Safe to Work Permits, Fire Cards, Confined Space Permits, etc.
  • Oversee projects and external workforce to ensure all Lilly specifications, standards, and procedures are being met.
  • Represent the Lilly customer(s) to ensure projects and jobs are delivered to meet customer needs.
  • Understand the facility requirements for production and administrative support within IPM.
  • Review and process contractor invoices and work orders for accuracy and IPM requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate any required safety practices and training for outside contractors.
  • Authorize contractor work plans and schedules to meet business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the IPM facilities.
  • Work with the key customers and leadership in IPM to recommend improvements.
  • Provide contractor and vendor coordination.
  • Plan and execute small projects (facility related), including making necessary purchases.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a participative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and communications skills with a customer service attitude.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.

Additional Preferences:

  • Knowledge of Parenteral site operations and facilities.
  • Experience with GMARS or similar computerized maintenance management system.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Associates Degree in Engineering or Technical Field preferred

Other Information:

  • Standard business hours (days, M-F) with after-hour support and shutdown support as needed.
  • Minimal travel required

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $31.37 - $52.28.

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
