Job summary

ezCater is the #1 food tech platform for workplaces in the US. As Engineering Manager for the Search Platform, you’ll lead the team responsible for how customers discover restaurants across ezCater, including the search engine, indexing pipeline, and availability services.

We’re replatforming search and you’ll shape architecture, delivery, and operational maturity of that foundation. This technical management role reports to the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in complex backend/platform environments.
• Track record hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers.
• Deep credibility in search/retrieval systems (Vespa/Elasticsearch/OpenSearch/Solr) and re-architecture.
• Strong backend experience with distributed, event‑driven systems; Go preferred.
• Experience with indexing pipelines, document models, and event streaming.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery and technical quality across query serving, indexing, availability and APIs.
• Set technical direction for the search stack including architecture and ranking strategies.
• Own freshness and correctness of index and availability domain.
• Review designs, challenge assumptions, and de-risk architecture decisions.
• Foster measurement, experimentation, and operational excellence in search.
• Coach and grow engineers with a high technical bar for search engineering.
