Job summary

ezCater, Inc is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Search Platform to lead a team responsible for how customers discover restaurants, including the search engine, indexing, and availability services. This is a remote-friendly leadership role reporting to the Director of Engineering.

You will drive architecture, delivery, and operational maturity, set technical direction, review designs, and coach engineers to raise the bar for relevance, freshness, and platform reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering, with team leadership.
• Experience as engineering manager leading engineers.
• Strong credibility in search/retrieval systems (e.g., Vespa, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Solr).
• Experience with indexing pipelines and event streams.
• Strong ranking instincts and translating product goals into signals.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery and quality across query serving, indexing, availability, and APIs.
• Set technical direction for search stack architecture and ranking.
• Own index freshness and availability domain to ensure valid results.
• Review designs, challenge assumptions, de-risk architecture.
• Foster measurement, experimentation, and reliability in search.
• Coach engineers and maintain high technical bar.
• Prioritize work to reduce risk and unblock teams.
• Collaborate with product, data, AI/ML on signals and infra.
• Build foundational ownership and strong engineering habits.
