Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Transient Performance & Operability Lead Engineer to join our hybrid team. The role focuses on propulsion cycle analysis, engine performance prediction, and system-level operability across development, test, and entry-into-service phases.

The candidate will develop NPSS-based cycle models, mentor engineers, and lead testing programs while collaborating with Controls, Thermals, and Design to deliver optimized propulsion solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Physics/Mathematics with 5+ years’ experience in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluids and/or engine design.
• Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience or PhD in Engineering/Physics/Mathematics.
• US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform propulsion cycle analysis and engine performance predictions using simulations to satisfy system requirements.
• Develop and maintain thermodynamic cycle models using NPSS.
• Mentor others in thermodynamics, test analysis, and engine performance modeling.
• Lead propulsion systems performance testing, publish technical reports, and deliver technical presentations of engineering analysis and results.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure integrated propulsion solutions and plan for certification.
