Job description

Job Overview

As a contributing member of the LOCA, Containment & Stability Analysis Team, you will perform safety analysis for plant thermal‑hydraulic Stability, plant noise, Power Range Neutron Monitor (PRNM) stability interface, and other analyses supporting reload applications for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants worldwide. This includes both currently operating BWR plants and new plants (BWRX, Natrium).

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform plant thermal‑hydraulic stability analyses, plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface, and other safety analyses with general expertise in two‑phase thermal hydraulic techniques.
  • Conduct fuel project tasks including reload analyses, stability methods implementation, new fuel design and introduction, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues.
  • Engage in cross‑disciplinary settings, collaborating with mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, and other affiliated teams to find optimum solutions.
  • Prepare, document, and present technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical mentoring and support team development, including procedure development and adherence.
  • Develop and deliver training courses for external commercial requests and internal audiences to support knowledge management and transfer.
  • Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
  • Ensure all work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in plant thermal‑hydraulic stability safety analysis.
Eligibility Requirements

The preferred work location is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC. This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information; final offers are contingent upon obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government.

Desired Characteristics
  • Experience in BWR plant T‑H stability analyses & methods, including plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface, stability setpoints methodology, and frequency & time domain methodologies.
  • M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T‑H modeling applied to nuclear reactor systems.
  • Experience with BWR technology and BWR stability analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of plant operational support in the stability area and reactor licensing requirements.
  • Experience with BWR simulator and use of 3‑D neutron kinetics (e.g., PANAC).
  • Experience with BWR/PWR T‑H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP, & TRACE.
  • Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications.
  • Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, integrity, strong communication skills, and a record of delivering on commitments.

  • Salary Range: $85,600.00 – $164,000.00 (geographic differential may apply).
