Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a member of the LOCA, Containment & Stability Analysis Team to perform safety analysis for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants based in Wilmington, NC. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline and at least one year of experience in thermal-hydraulic stability analysis. Responsibilities include conducting various safety analyses, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, and supporting new fuel designs. Additional qualifications include experience with BWR technology and T-H systems codes.

Qualifications

Job Description Summary

As a contributing member of the LOCA, Containment & Stability Analysis Team, you will perform safety analysis for plant thermal-hydraulic stability, plant noise, Power Range Neutron Monitor (PRNM) stability interface, and other analyses supporting reload applications for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants, including currently operating BWR plants as well as new plants (BWRX, Natrium) operating or planned worldwide.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform plant thermal-hydraulic stability analyses, plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface, and other safety analyses with general expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
  • Perform fuel project tasks including reload analyses, Stability methods implementation, new fuel design and introduction, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues.
  • Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engage with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions.
  • Prepare, document and present technical data to internal/external customers.
  • Provide technical mentoring to support team development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence.
  • Develop/deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests, as well as for internal audiences for knowledge management, and knowledge capture and transfer.
  • Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
  • Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in plant T-H Stability Safety Analysis.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in BWR Plant T-H Stability analyses & methods, including plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface, stability setpoints methodology, and frequency and time domain methodologies
  • M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T-H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems
  • Experience with BWR technology and BWR Stability analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of plant operational support in the Stability area
  • Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
  • Experience with BWR simulator and use of 3-D neutron kinetics (e.g., PANAC)
  • Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP, & TRACE
  • Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications
  • Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON
  • Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others
