Our commitment extends beyond business success as we strive to build sustainable processes that minimize environmental impact and foster vibrant and diverse communities around the globe.

The Lead Electrical Engineer - Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear is responsible for leading the electrical design, development, validation, industrialization, and lifecycle support of low-voltage switchgear and power distribution products. This role serves as the technical leader for assigned programs and owns electrical engineering execution from concept through production release, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, quality objectives, cost targets and Jabil product lifecycle processes.

Key Responsibilities

Own the electrical design and architecture of LV switchgear, including protection, control, metering, communications and monitoring systems. Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications and design deliverables. Contribute to system architecture development and lead the design of protection systems, control systems, metering, power monitoring, communication networks and power distribution schemes in alignment with system requirements. Contribute to and support communication architectures utilizing IEC 61850, Modbus RTU/TCP, Ethernet/IP, BACnet and other customer‑required industrial communication standards. Lead development and validation of protection and coordination philosophies, relay setting requirements, arc‑flash mitigation strategies and system selectivity objectives, including approval of short‑circuit, coordination, load‑flow and arc‑flash studies. Lead concept development, prototype builds, design verification, pilot production and production release activities. Drive engineering decisions that optimise product cost, performance, manufacturability, schedule and quality. Lead design transfer, support manufacturing readiness reviews, provide production ramp support and conduct engineering change implementation across global manufacturing sites. Serve as the primary electrical engineering interface for customers during design reviews, issue resolution and product development activities. Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), Design for Reliability (DFR) and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE). Oversee electrical validation and qualification testing including dielectric, temperature‑rise, short‑circuit, relay protection, controls validation and arc‑flash evaluations. Lead technical support for FAT activities and provide engineering support for SAT, commissioning, startup and field troubleshooting activities. Lead technical risk reviews, root‑cause investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts. Ensure compliance with UL 891, UL 1558, UL 508A, UL 845, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, applicable ANSI/IEEE standards and customer‑specific requirements. Collaborate with global engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality and regulatory teams.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Power Systems preferred) or related field. 10+ years of electrical engineering experience, including 5+ years in low‑voltage switchgear, switchboards, MCCs or power distribution products. Demonstrated technical leadership on multiple NPI programs and successful product launches. Expert knowledge of UL 891, UL 1558, UL 508A, UL 845, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584 and applicable ANSI/IEEE standards governing low‑voltage switchgear, switchboards, MCCs and power distribution equipment. Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, protection relays, circuit breakers, metering systems and LV switchgear applications. Experience integrating intelligent electronic devices (IEDs), PLCs, HMIs, protection relays, power quality meters and gateway devices. Experience with IEC 61850 and Modbus RTU/TCP communications, device integration and interoperability within switchgear, protection, metering and power monitoring systems. Advanced proficiency with EPLAN and/or AutoCAD Electrical, including electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring documentation and configuration management. Experience with PLM systems such as Windchill or equivalent. Experience working with NRTLs (UL, ETL, CSA, TÜV) and supporting product certification, compliance testing and listing activities. Familiarity with OSHA electrical safety requirements, lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical safe work practices. Experience with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower or equivalent power system analysis tools. Professional Engineer (PE) licence preferred.
