Job summary

Capsa Healthcare is seeking a Lead Engineer for IoT & Device Messaging to shape connected healthcare operations. You will build high-scale IoT and middleware systems powering automated prescription fulfillment from intake to delivery, reporting to Enterprise Architecture, with approximately 50% travel.

This remote role emphasizes distributed systems, security, and scalable architectures across cloud-native platforms, with leadership responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 4+ years designing and building distributed, real-time, or high-throughput production systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise in .NET and C#, including asynchronous programming, performance optimization, microservices, and scalable service architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of IoT and device messaging platforms for scalable, reliable systems.
• Drive architecture for telemetry pipelines, OTA updates, and fleet management.
• Collaborate with security, operations, and product teams to deliver robust software.
• Mentor engineers and champion best practices in CI/CD, IaC, and observability.

Lead Engineer, loT & Device Messaging, to shape the future of connected healthcare operations. Build high-scale loT and middleware systems that power automated prescription fulfillment from order intake to patient delivery.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture and is a REMOTE role requiring 50% travel.

As the Lead Engineer, you will need experience with the following:

IoT & Connected Device Platform Experience

• Device identity and provisioning.
• Digital twins/shadow state.
• Fleet-scale device management.
• Telemetry pipelines.
• Offline/intermittent connectivity handling.
• OTA (over-the-air) configuration and firmware updates.

Messaging Technologies (MQTT & gRPC)

• Production experience with MQTT and gRPC.

Reliability, Guaranteed Delivery & High-Throughput Processing

• At-least-once and effectively-once processing.
• Idempotency.
• Deduplication strategies.

• Partitioning and ordering.
• Proven experience with low-latency, concurrent systems.

Cloud-Native Architecture, Security & Technical Leadership

• Kubernetes and containerization.

What We're Looking For
