Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Lead Engineer for APX Fleet Design Management to guide design strategy for the AP1000 project portfolio. The role reports to the Senior Manager, APX Fleet Design Management and is based at Cranberry Township, PA in a hybrid arrangement with two days onsite per week.

Responsibilities include leading technical teams, defining design strategies for NI and TI, managing design baselines, and coordinating with suppliers, fabricators, and customers to address

Qualifications

• BS and MS in Engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a technical leadership role.
• AP1000 plant or new nuclear plant design experience is a plus.
• Experience across multiple engineering disciplines is preferred.

About the role

As Lead Engineer for APX Fleet Design Management, you will guide fleet design strategy and standardization for the future fleet of AP1000 plants under development.

You will report to the Senior Manager, APX Fleet Design Management and be located at our Cranberry Township, PA location. The position is hybrid; you will be onsite 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Define Design & Delivery Strategies. Develop strategies for Nuclear Island (NI) design and delivery. Develop strategies for Turbine Island (TI) design and delivery. These strategies will include standardization approaches for multiple suppliers. You will also involve adapting to different technical requirements, such as 50/60 Hz impacts.
• Define and maintain the design baseline and standard Index of Engineering Documents based on standard product definition.
• Shape strategies for metrication and requirements management.
• Lead main technical teams, providing oversight while delegating work and mentoring team members.
• Provide technical guidance, direction, and collaborate with other personnel including partners suppliers, fabricators, and customers.
• Identify and define technical risks and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, MS in Engineering
• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Experience in a technical leadership role, either as a technical lead or project manager
• Experience in AP1000 plant or new nuclear plant design helpful
• Experience in multiple engineering disciplines and process development/improvement preferred

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $116,800 to $146,000 per year.
