Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking a qualified engineer to join our Capital Projects Advisory group in the US. The role focuses on stress analyses, heat transfer, and materials testing for complex structures and systems.

You will report on design reliability, root cause analyses, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards. The ideal candidate holds a mechanical/metallurgical/structural engineering degree, 3–5 years of experience, and is eligible for security clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in mechanical/metallurgical/structural engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to pass background and drug screenings for security clearances.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, including weekends.

Job Description

We are looking for a bright, ambitious, and qualified individual who has the ability to:

• Perform stress analyses to solve and report on complex issues related to design, life assessment, and root cause failure analyses.
• Contribute to advanced testing including the assessment of the physical structure and behavior of metals\\materials.
• Perform heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and structural stress analyses of pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, bridges and other structures using classical and finite element analyses methods (e.g., ANSYS, LS-DYNA, SAP, and others). Experience with fracture mechanics and concrete modeling is preferred.
• Work with industry codes and standards for the design and analyses of structures and systems.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, minimum, in mechanical, metallurgical, or structural engineering (Master Degree preferred)
• 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience
• Pursuit of a Professional Engineer license is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, with efficient use of Microsoft products.
• Ability to pass background and drug screenings to obtain security clearances at a commercial nuclear plant.
• Ability to travel to customer or project sites, which may include weekends.
