Job summary

Timken Encoders, part of Cone Drive Operations in Traverse City, MI, seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the encoders technical team, including R&D, applications engineering, testing, and technical support. You will oversee prioritization, project management, customer delivery, and support of the sales process from quote to ongoing support.

You will mentor engineers, set clear objectives, and collaborate with global R&D to translate customer needs into product specifications and features.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related field; masters preferred.
• 12+ years of related experience in customer & application support, magnetic field theory, IP awareness, collaboration, project management, and leadership.
• Experience leading engineering teams and driving product development from quote to customer support.
• Strong knowledge of magnetic encoders and sensor technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of application and development engineers and technicians on-site and remotely.
• Set objectives, expectations, and performance metrics; mentor as needed.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing to address customer requirements and tailor solutions.
• Oversee product development, QA, testing, and customer support throughout the lifecycle.
• Stay current with Timken encoder technologies and guide product strategy and launches.
