Job summary

Woolpert in Kiln, MS is seeking an Embedded Systems & Sensor Software Engineer to lead development of software for airborne LiDAR and sensor platforms. You will bridge hardware, firmware, and applications, owning software architecture from hardware control to field deployment.

You will mentor engineers, define interfaces, and contribute to testing and validation across lab and flight environments. This role demands 7+ years of software experience, strong C/C++, and hands-on embedded systems

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
Minimum 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
Minimum 3 years working with embedded systems or hardware-integrated software.
Demonstrated success leading software development for complex technical systems.
Experience supporting products from concept through deployment.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of embedded software architectures for airborne LiDAR and imaging systems.
Integrate software with laser subsystems, GNSS/INS, cameras, and aircraft interfaces.
Develop intuitive operator interfaces and maintenance tools.
Define software requirements and system interfaces across hardware, firmware, and application layers.
Develop health monitoring, diagnostics, and automated fault reporting.
Mentor software and systems engineers and contribute to roadmaps.
