Job summary

Wabtec Corporation, a global leader in rail technology, is seeking an Engineering Technical Leader to design, develop, test, and release embedded software for locomotive systems. You will work cross-functionally with software, hardware, systems engineering, and validation teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.

The role demands 10+ years of embedded software experience, strong C/C++, Python skills, and experience with Linux or QNX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 10+ years of embedded software experience.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, and Shell scripting.
• Experience with Linux, QNX, RTOS, or similar platforms for embedded/real-time systems.
• Proven technical leadership including project planning, mentoring, and prioritization.
• Experience troubleshooting and root-cause analysis; supports testing and deployment.
• Familiarity with unit testing, software integration, configuration management, and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of Agile processes, software quality, embedded hardware, and cybersecurity basics.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and release embedded software for locomotive systems.
• Develop software architectures and designs from requirements.
• Document designs per standards and guidelines.
• Resolve software issues; conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Conduct design and code reviews following processes.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, simulation, verification & validation, and hardware teams.
• Lead technical projects by decomposing requirements and developing schedules.
• Mentor team members as subject matter expert.
• Support factory and customer locomotive testing and deployments.
