Job summary

GRAM is seeking an on-site hardware-focused engineer in El Segundo to own the architecture and integration of onboard sensing, compute, and communications for insectoid machines. You will oversee cameras, lidar, IMUs, encoders, compute modules, interfaces, and data pathways across the hardware-software boundary.

Responsibilities include defining subsystem architecture, selecting sensors against constraints, ensuring timing and calibration chains, and writing C++ or Python to integrate released

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in robotics, electrical, computer, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.
• Experience integrating multi-sensor robotic systems with real-time software.
• Proficiency in C++ or Python on Linux with device integration.
• Experience with real-time buses or networks (CAN, EtherCAT, Ethernet, SPI).

Responsibilities

• Define onboard sensing, compute, and communications architecture.
• Select sensors and compute modules against FOV, latency, bandwidth, power.
• Maintain interface contracts across mounts, connectors, data schemas.
• Establish end-to-end timing, timestamping, synchronization, calibration chains.
• Integrate boards and software, writing C++ or Python as required.
• Diagnose interaction faults and calibrate hardware/software.
• Maintain versioned calibration records.
