Job summary

6AM City, LLC is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for a contract role in Manassas, VA. The position focuses on developing embedded Linux software for submarine acoustic systems and new hardware platforms, with kernel development and driver work at the core.

You will lead technical discussions, influence architecture, and build substantial new software from scratch, with on-site work in a lab environment supporting defense systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Linux kernel development experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming for embedded Linux.
• Experience with Linux device drivers and kernel modules.
• Willingness to obtain US Secret Clearance.
• Experience with Ethernet/TCP/IP networking in embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to design and development of Linux kernel components and device drivers.
• Write and review high quality C/C++ code for embedded Linux applications.
• Develop scripts in Bash and Python for automation and testing.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to ensure software/hardware integration.
