Job summary

Sterling Engineering is seeking a Lead Embedded Software Design & Verification Engineer to develop and verify software for embedded flight control systems. The role leads a local engineering team and collaborates with international partners, based in Shannon, Co. Clare with hybrid/remote options.

You will work on C-based safety-critical software, mentor engineers, and drive DO-178C compliant verification, requirements reviews, and certification documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Experience leading software design and verification activities.
• Experience in safety-critical development environments.
• Mentoring and developing engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, integration, and verification of embedded software for flight control systems.
• Mentor and lead a team of embedded software engineers.
• Develop safety-critical embedded software using C and conduct design/code reviews.
• Oversee software verification activities and aerospace audits for DO-178C compliance.
• Plan resources, tasks, budgets, and coordinate with international partners.
• Support HIL/SIL testing and system-level verification.
• Prepare certification documentation and software plans.
