Job summary

Banks Power is seeking an Embedded Firmware Architect for an on-site role in Azusa, CA. You will lead the firmware team, shape the architecture, and drive development across modules like signal processing, instrumentation, UI, and app integration.

The role requires hands-on coding in C/C++ with MATLAB/Simulink, deep engine-control knowledge, and experience across automotive communication protocols. You will mentor engineers and align with hardware teams for seamless integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of embedded firmware development in RTOS environments; able to actively code.
• Experience with hard real-time systems and ARM architectures.
• Automotive powertrain controls and CANbus, USB, J1979/J1979-2, UDS, J1850, ISO9141, LIN and automotive ethernet, SENT.
• Strong C/C++, plus Python; model-based design using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Deep engine control knowledge and signals/actuators.
• Full product and embedded firmware lifecycle experience in cross-functional settings.
• Experience with ST/NXP/Infineon/Atmel microprocessors; multi-processing architectures.
• Ability to optimize software for constrained embedded systems.
• Familiarity with hardware design concepts; excellent communication; automotive performance passion.

Responsibilities

• Lead firmware team through V model product development cycles.
• Define and drive firmware architecture and development flow; project scoping and pre-development planning.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers and engineers.
• Develop modular firmware across Banks products including signal processing, instrumentation, UI, and app integration.
• Architect and implement control systems from conception to validation.
• Collaborate with hardware team to ensure flawless integration.
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, and ensure coding standards are followed.
• Document work and communicate progress to management.
