Job summary

Mindshare Executive Search is seeking a Senior Automotive Embedded Software Engineer for a global automotive client in Detroit, with a hybrid schedule combining office days and remote collaboration.

You will lead design, prototyping and validation under MISRA and automotive standards, work with C, AUTOSAR, LIN/CAN/UDS, and collaborate with core teams to deliver reliable software for comfort and convenience systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an automotive embedded software product design role.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Experience with automotive launch cycles.
• Strong knowledge of C programming, model-based design, architectural design, engineering calculations and analysis.
• Knowledge of automotive APQP terms.
• Excellent problem-solving and presentation skills.
• Experience coding with LIN, CAN and UDS diagnostics.
• Knowledge with AUTOSAR software architecture and related tools.
• Knowledge with ASPICE and ISO-26262 is an asset.
• Familiar with coding rules in C language for automotive applications.
• Familiar with software build, release process and validation tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining regular contact with team and systems integration engineering on technical issues.
• Actively participating in program core teams with proactive presentation of defined engineering deliverables.
• Developing engineered product solutions to meet customer needs by creative use of core part designs and technologies while ensuring MISRA and regulatory standards compliance.
• Establishing and maintaining records of technical information, process methods/standards, and program details.
• Ensuring products are reviewed for DFX (Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, etc.) to meet targets.

Role Description

Client is in need of a Senior Automotive Embedded Software Engineer to complete various engineering efforts to design, prototype and validate product design solutions in support of customer and internal core team timing requirements. This includes a hybrid schedule of coming into the Detroit office as well as:

• Maintaining regular contact with team and systems integration engineering on technical issues.
• Actively participating in program core teams with proactive presentation of defined engineering deliverables.
• Developing engineered product solutions to meet customer needs by creative use of core part designs and technologies by ensuring compliance to MISRA and other regulatory standards.
• Establishing and maintaining adequate records of technical information, process methods/standards, design and program details, and records to support/procure reliable patent actions.
• Ensuring products are reviewed for best practice from a Design for Excellence (DFX) perspective including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Cost (DFC), Design for Testability (DFT), Design for Reliability (DFR) and Design for Ergonomics (DFE) to ensure design delivery to product targets.

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Need
