Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an experienced Elevator Mechanic to join our Starbase, TX team, supporting mission-critical vertical transport systems. This role emphasizes independent work in a safety-focused aerospace setting, with leadership in troubleshooting and modernization projects.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of licensed elevator experience on traction and rack-and-pinion systems, plus a current state license and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as a licensed elevator mechanic with experience in traction and rack-and-pinion systems.
• Current state elevator license or certification.
• High school diploma or equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on vertical transport systems, including high-rise traction elevators and rack-and-pinion lifts.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using diagnostic tools and schematics.
• Conduct scheduled inspections in compliance with ASME A17.1/CSA B44, state codes, and local AHJ regulations.
• Lead elevator modernization projects and major repairs in coordination with facilities engineering and vendors.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, control wiring diagrams, and OEM documentation.
• Utilize CMMS platforms to document maintenance activities, inspections, and system health metrics.
• Interface with internal engineering teams and external service providers to support uptime and system upgrades.
• Train and mentor junior elevator personnel and provide safety briefings during high-risk work.
• Support emergency and after-hours maintenance operations as required.
