Job summary

Actalent in Columbus, OH is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of advanced electromechanical products from concept through full-scale production. You will own product architecture, mechanical design execution, validation, and manufacturing readiness while collaborating with engineering, operations, supply chain, and customer-facing teams.

Qualifications

• Experience designing complex electromechanical products.
• Experience creating and managing BOMs, product revisions and engineering changes.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product development from concept through production release.
• Develop mechanical assemblies, structural components, and enclosure systems using 3D CAD tools.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings and support documentation for production.
• Participate in system architecture discussions with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing stakeholders.
• Drive and facilitate design reviews to improve performance and reliability.
• Support validation activities including test planning, execution, and analysis.
• Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Support prototype builds and testing to meet design intent.
• Assist with product launches by collaborating with production teams.
• Manage engineering BOMs, revisions, and change processes in systems.
• Work with suppliers to review designs and improve manufacturability and quality.
• Partner with production to drive continuous improvement in design and processes.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
