Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking an Optical Test Specialist to perform comprehensive opto-mechanical component testing and to develop and maintain advanced test equipment. You will collaborate with engineering to enhance test processes across the company, ensuring high reliability and efficiency.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience with opto-mechanical assemblies, vacuum and electrical systems, and the ability to design tooling and drawings from 3D models.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in opto-mechanical or electronic assembly/test production
• Familiarity with optical equipment handling and cleaning techniques
• Deep knowledge of safe operation of vacuum, thermal, electrical, power and data acquisition systems
• Proficient with wiring and electrical systems
• Able to troubleshoot problems with fluid/electrical systems and implement scrappy solutions
• Experience designing tooling or test equipment in hardware development environment

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and test high quality opto-mechanical components and assemblies
• Verify flight hardware and document results clearly
• Improve processes for automated acceptance testing
• Address non-conformances and drive root-cause resolution
• Maintain process planning documents and feedback actions
• Maintain and calibrate automated acceptance testing equipment
• Create 2D drawings from 3D models using established standards
• Provide training and guidance to technicians
