Job summary

San Francisco Opera Association is seeking a Head of Electrics to lead the Electrics Department across all productions at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. You will oversee lighting, projections, and related effects, guiding a team to deliver high production values.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of staff supervision, ETCP certification, and strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with guest designers and the production team while managing budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Must be a full member of -OR- willing to join IATSE Local 16.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of staff supervision preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a large-scale repertory performing arts organization.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with all staff in a professional, confidential, clear and tactful manner.
• ETCP certified.
• Ability to work on weekends and evenings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Electrics Department for season prep, load-in, rehearsals, performances and load-out.
• Collaborate with guest designers, production and technical teams to ensure lighting, projection and effects meet production values.
• Develop budgets, schedules and resource plans for productions within the department.
• Manage and develop staff, fostering a positive, professional environment and ensuring efficiency.
