Qualifications

• 18 months training or 18 months verifiable electrical experience under supervision of an experienced electrician.
• Formal arithmetic education including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and reading/writing common English vocabulary.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker over lower-level electricians and/or crew and/or incarcerated individuals engaged in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment.
• Install, test, troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment (motors, appliances, fans, transformers, HVAC, fire/security systems, elevators).
• Determine and complete materials needed, cost estimates, and submit purchase requests.
• Read blueprints and/or schematic diagrams; maintain inventory of electrical supplies.
• Maintain tool count and inventory of tools used by incarcerated individuals.
• Perform other maintenance or miscellaneous duties (carpentry, painting, electrical, sheet metal, HVAC).
• Ensure compliance with security regulations.
• Install, troubleshoot, test, modify and/or maintain basic telecommunications/electronic data processing equipment in institutional setting.
• Serve on institutional committees; attend training, seminars, and meetings.
• Perform security functions as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned (snow/ice removal, grass cutting).
