Job summary

The City of Kenner is seeking qualified Electricians to perform skilled electrical maintenance and repair in facilities and street-light systems managed by the General Services Department. The role includes leading Electrician I and II staff, assigning and reviewing work, and coordinating with the Superintendent.

Responsibilities include installing fixtures, wiring, troubleshooting, maintaining generators, and supporting special events.

Qualifications

• Vocational school diploma supplemented by three or more years of electrical maintenance and repair experience.
• Must possess a valid Louisiana Class D driver’s license.
• Essential duty status, reporting to work during emergencies or special events.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance and repair for facilities, and manage street lights overseen by the General Services Department.
• Install fixtures, replace bulbs and ballasts, outlets, and reset breakers; inspect and service electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot overhead and underground electrical work; repair streetlights and install new heads as needed.
• Maintain generators, equipment, and tools; assist with special events and setup.
